About Us

Where it all started

Humble beginnings” In 2016 Wayne was running a small measure and release comp at the Stanmore Bay boating club,it had grown from 55 entires to 130 in the 2 nd year, Dan was present at the comp helping Wayne out and realised quickly the potential of the format.

From this the NZ Lure Masters was born, the aim was to give anglers a better option than the big catch and kill comps, this old way of thinking where all the fish were killed for prizes was just not sustainable. To make the entry fee low and create value for money for our anglers while doing our bit to help protect the fisheries. Not putting pressure on a single area like one base comps do was another big part of the sustainable culture we wanted to pursue, spreading anglers out all over NZ would do this.
